Chess

When I was 6 years old, I had my first contact with chess and it has been with me since then. First, it was just a game; then, I played it professionally for more than 15 years; now, it is my favorite hobbie.

I did not keep track but, I probably played more than 40 national and international chess tournaments –getting to visit more than half of the states of my country– in all those years. From which I won 5 gold, 8 silver, 6 bronce medals. I think my highest moment was in 2005; back then I was 18 and was selected to represent Mexico in the World Youth Chess Championship, celebrated in Belfort, France. There, I finished as the best Mexican player under 18. After that, I had to reduce severely –due to my studies– the amount of time I was dedicating to chess.

In 2012, I moved to London to start my PhD at UCL. During my stay in UK, I was then selected (2014-2016) to represent UCL in the British Universities’ Chess Association Championship as a first board player. After that, I pretty much retired from national e international competitions but not from chess. I still play it online, follow the most important tournaments and games of the elite.

Now, some old photos…
